Silly Season
Usually the silly season is reserved for the holidays, but the real silly season began with the Presidential Primaries. Last night the results from the Michigan Primary were news for only one party: the Republicans. What about the Democrats? Well, the Democrats violated there party's rules by moving the Michigan Primary so the big names weren't on the ballot! Around 40% of the people that voted in the Democratic Primary voted 'uncommitted' while Hillary Clinton won. Whoopdee doo. If the Clinton camp thinks that taking Michigan was a victory, they are as clueless as the clowns that want her in the White House. She clearly doesn't care about Michigan or its citizens because she decided to go to Vegas to debate Obama and Edwards. They chose to leave their names off the Michigan ballot in support of their party while Hillary made it clear that she is all about herself and nothing for the people she claims to represent by putting her name on the ballot in spite of the violation by the Michigan Democrats to change the Democratic primary to January 15th.
As for the Republicans, Mitt Romney has new life after rolling through Michigan. John McCain had a decent showing and conceded Michigan while he was in South Carolina. There weren't any other Republican candidates that showed any signs of life in Michigan.
Now for football. Ryan Mallett has officially left Michigan and is more than likely going to land at Arkansas. Where their new coach runs a similar offense to what Rich Rodriguez runs, only without the running quarterback part. Funny that Rodriguez told Mallett that he can adapt his offense to the strengths of his players, in this case Mallett. But Mallett decided to turn tail and bolt. He wasn't ever really happy at Michigan and had made that clear to anyone that would listen...until it came to the press. Good luck Ryan, you could have been something damn special at Michigan. Hopefully for the sake of Arkansas you will be more comfortable there and be a tremendous quarter back for them.
Rich Rodriguez is being accused of destroying West Virginia University property when he cleaned out his office after accepting the Michigan job. A 'source' told a West Virginia newspaper about this and now the messy separation between Rodriguez and WVU gets uglier. Time will tell if there was any wrong-doing on the coach's part, but this seems like a scorned ex-girlfriend pitching a hissy fit stalkfest because she was left for a better situation.
Terrelle Pryor is the most sought after high school player in America and he is visiting Ann Arbor this weekend. He will have a tough choice to make after he leaves here and the rest of us will know his decision on February 6th, National Signing Day. The kid has some sick talent and has a pretty decent arm, which is why so many schools are drooling over him. In the end it will probably come down to Michigan and tO$Ucks, and hopefully Michigan lands him. Why? Well, aside from being severely biased, we have 2 quarterbacks on the team right now that have a combined 1 pass completion in college and they aren't exactly able to scramble when the pocket collapses. Pryor can. If he can be a level-headed, humble person he will be fine where ever he ends up. But he seems to really be enjoying keeping people on their toes guessing where he will go to school, and a part of me is leery about him being able to handle the pressure and attention that goes with being labeled "the best high school senior in years" because we all know how MoMo Clarrett ended up.
