Michigan Perseverance
In what was the 100th meeting between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State, we saw what has made this 100 years of Michigan excellence and Sparty inferiority. Michigan got off to a good start and 11 point lead at the half. Sparty came out in the 3rd and tried to get right and prove that they belong in the conversation with Michigan, but then S.O.S. came back. That's right, the Same 'Ol Spartans showed up at the worst possible time for M.A.C.. In the last 7 minutes Chad Henne and his loaner-knee and borrowed shoulder showed just how important he is to this team. More so than Mick Hart because of who is behind Henne. Ryan Mallett has all the hype and arm strength in the world, but he has to learn touch on his passes and to be ready to enter the game at any time. When Henne rolled his ankle on a lineman's foot, Mallett was talking to someone and a coach had to take the headset, hat, and do-rag off Mallett's head and hand him his helmet! And what does Mallett do when he gets into the game? He fumbled, like he has done way too much this year, but this time Mike Hart was there to bail him out and pick up a huge first down. Henne returned and led the offense to the endzone capped by an amazing throw to Greg Mathews.
Next up is a road trip to Madison to play Bucky Badger. This is another game that Henne has to be big in to get Michigan unbeaten in conference to Nov. 17th against those booger eating morons from Ohio. Bucky presents some issues for Michigan but nothing that we can't get past. Hell, if we can keep "Thunder-n-Lightning" bottled up for most of the game, and when it mattered most, we can certainly get over on Wiscy.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers lost at Kansas today 76-39. I guess the order that Cornfan said was restored a few years ago is back in oblivion. Way to fold like laundry Cornfan.
Tomorrow is Lions-Broncos day in Detroit and the Lions are looking to become 6-2 on the year and get even more people on the Cornbread Express. Denver isn't all that great and their defense has been exposed time and time again this year and seem to be meeting a Detroit Lion team that is clicking right now. GO LIONS!
The Boston Red Sox swept the Colorado Rockies in the World Series. Great, but they are still not the best team in Boston. The Patriots are making a joke of the NFL right now and face the second best team Sunday afternoon in Indianapolis.
Ok, I am getting back to Michigan-Sparty. All the Sparty fans that they showed on tv when Michigan cut the lead to 24-21 seemed to sense what was coming. And why shouldn't they? Sparty started the year 4-0 but is 1-5 in the Big 11, somewhat of a pattern for the Little Green men. Coach Dantonio kept saying that this wasn't the same Sparty, but the dumb penalties in the first half were vintage examples of Spartyball. Have a great time at the Motor City Bowl Sparty.
Finally, I saw an article in the Detroit News today that said auto accidents are down across the state. Of course the accidents are down, everyne is leaving the state because we are in a one-state recession that is spiraling fast towards the way of the third world country! The state recently "avoided" a shutdown when our idiot governor forced tax increases. Now the state and its legislators are heading towards another shutdown because they can't agree on a budget. Again. Man will I be glad when Granholm isn't the governor any more.
