Returning to Normal

Well well well, here we go with the first edition from the new home of SnotzzzBlog. It has been a busy weekend of games and it is starting to look more and more like order is being restored in the world of college football. Sparty tried like hell but couldn't repeat their 1998 stunner in the Toilet Bowl in Columbus. What is the Toilet Bowl? It is that "stadium" that the morons play their home games in. Sparty couldn't move the ball across the room let alone down the field against the defense. Speaking of defense, that is the one area that Sparty showed they have some true talent. Two straight possessions in the third quarter saw Sparty flex a little and score two straight defensive touchdowns, exposing the offense as suspect in Columbus. But it wasn't enough as Sparty sat back down where they end up so often, in the loss column.

Other games that stood out were the upsets. South Florida losing to Rutgers is usually a topic best placed in only the local classifieds, so I wasn't too surprised that *gasp* the #2 team in the country lost. Number 2 team in the country, come on now. It was nice that the Bulls rose up and beat an Auburn team that had no identity at the time, but now they need to fall back into line and return to their rightful place in college football obscurity. Oklahoma won their game but seriously, 17-7 against Iowa St.? Kentucky had a nice little run beating LSU but couldn't keep it going against Florida in a shootout. So what, neither team is going to win the conference and they will be lucky to get a BCS bid. And Vanderbilt held Spurrier to only 6 points. Vanderbilt. What happened to Spurrier and his offensive wizardry? Another top 10 team exposed as a fraud. And who saw that LSU-Auburn finish? I can't believe that Les Miles had the stones to throw the ball with 7 seconds left. What was more astounding was the fact that the throw and catch were better than perfect, keeping the BCS Championship hopes alive in Baton Rouge.

Now the game I care about more than any of the others. In Champaign Michigan capitalized on the mistakes of the uppity Illini and bounced the little indians back to Earth 27-17 behind a hard working defense and an opportunistic special teams play. I was wondering as I watched that play, how the hell does the guy calling for the fair catch just watch the ball go through his hands and arms? His job is to make sure that he CATCHES THE BALL!!! So now that we have established that Illinois doesn't actually have a football team worth talking about let's get down to business. Michigan has Minnesota, Sparty, Wisconsin, and the convicts from Columbus left on the docket. First things first, Minnesota which is coming off an embarrassing loss at home to North Dakota State. Yeah yeah, we know a little something about losing at home to a supposedly inferior team, but at least App. St. has won championships. What surprises me is that Minnesota has willingly taken a big step back. They fired Glen Mason and hired Tim Brewster only to have Brewsters boys look like a bad high school team, which is fitting because Minnesota has a high school fight song. Then we move on to Sparty. Unless Chad Henne, Mike Hart, Manningham, Arrington, and Long decide to not play and Sparty Bob is running the clock, Michigan should continue to restore the order in the Big Ten. After Sparty we go to the land of cheese and fraudulant football. When the Badgers realize that they aren't worthy of accolades reaped upon them by moronic local writers, then perhaps they can move on and attempt to become a real contender in the Big Ten. Lastly we close the season at home against the morons from Columbus. Now I'm sure there are some nice folks in Ohio, but those that are nice aren't rooting for the Nuts. I admit that there is definately some talent in that state, Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson are two of the more notable, but I find the fans of OSU to be like the supporters of Osama Bin Laden. They think that by being the world's biggest assholes, they are the most die-hard, devoted fans around. But when fans get the reputation of being unruly and violent, a line has been crossed. That line should never be crossed. The most recent story of OSU fan being an asshole was when a Michigan fan was walking with his father to the game last year and OSU fan spit on them and kicked away the old mans cane. Where is the class in that? Some say that the line between support and fanaticism is thin, but the line between class and complete waste of humanity isn't so thin. It's as if OSU fan is striving to become the poster children for birth control and sterilization. So on November 17th when those classless idiots that never went to college come up to Ann Arbor, we as Michigan Alumni and fans need to treat these felons like the criminals they are and let the cops handle them when they get out of hand. We don't need to fight or throw cups of bleach on them to show our support for our team. We show up and support our boys and go home winners. GO BLUE!!!

  • Hooray for new home!

It was the pride of CC, long snapper Sean Griffin with that key fumble recovery, I note...

    OSU fans = terrorists?...

It's looking once again like LSU & Oklahoma might be headed for a national championship collision if they both keep winning...

And can you name the high school team that actually uses Minnesota's fight song?

    GO BLUE
